Anyone thinking that the world has the wrong definition of love? :)
I began reading The Meaning of Marriage (Timothy Keller with Kathy Keller) last night. The beginning of the book is talking about the misguided ideas our culture provides for love, relationships, and sex. At one point it brings up that our culture now values sexual prowess. Then the book goes on to quote a professor of history at SUNY Stony Brook who said:
In the face of recent revelations about the reckless and self-indulgent sexual conduct of so many of our elected officials, it may be worth recalling that sexual restraint rather than sexual prowess was one the measure of a man.(emphasis mine)
Valentine's Day is FULL of unrealistic expectations.
But instead of focusing on what our world says LOVE is about, I want to think about what the Author of Life...Love, Himself... says about love and sex.
So we turn to Scripture.
To help us with this Seeds Family Worship is launching their newest album: Purity.
To say that our family is thankful for Seeds is an understatement. We have all 6 cds so far and we will be downloading the new album.
You can purchase a download of the whole album here – http://seedsfamilyworship.bandcamp.com.
The Purity album is comprised of scripture about purity set to song:
Hope and a Future – Jeremiah 29:11
Do Not Awaken Love – Song of Solomon 8:4
Your Word – Psalm 119:105
Keep Your Heart – Proverbs 4:23
Not Your Own – I Corinthians 6:18-20
Bad Company – I Corinthians 15:33-34
He Humbled Himself – Philippians 2:3-5,8
Preeminent – Colossians 1:18
Let us remember that this world is not our home. We can learn what True Love is from God alone. And real romance is not what we see on the screen.
Happy Valentine's Day!
