Reb JR
One of the blessing of living on campus is this new phenomenon that I have come to love the sight of...

Other men come to discuss things with JR. Theology, life... guy stuff... I don't know the half of it. But what I can tell is that JR is respected. (and not just because he was elected HUGSR SA president)
One student was telling me the other day while he and another guy were visiting during a break in a weekend class that "JR is attractive." :P He went on to say the reason is that JR un-apologetically states what he believes.
In our day and age where people are so afraid of offending others, people rarely actually stand for anything very strongly. But JR does. His theology is Reformed and he's going to a school where NO ONE else stands on the "Reformed" side of things. But the strength of his convictions pulls other people to him. They may not agree with him, but they listen and ask questions.
JR has always stood apart. At Plymouth College he was a strong voice for conservative politics in a very liberal setting. When he won my heart, it was with his ability to know what he wanted. (very manly, btw) :)
I warms my heart to see other scholars, men of God, and people preparing for lives in service of the Lord coming to JR and sharing their lives with him.
THIS is why we moved to campus.

More Than Meets the Eye
For about a month now, Gideon has been asking me to make him a Bumblebee costume.
He's been SO sweet during his sickness (as he usually is) that when he asked me on Sunday, I knew it had to be a priority for me.
Monday morning, after breakfast, I pulled all the waffle boxes I'd been saving, grabbed my duct tape and went to work.

Honorable Mention!!
Thursday several of you got an e-mail from me asking you to help me pick an image to enter into a contest for The Light Workshop.
Well, the results came out this afternoon and my photo wasn't mentioned. I was taking this pretty well. There WERE over 700 entries after all.
But I just got an e-mail from the "teacher" of the e-course that read:

Randomness...
Gideon has been running a fever and has a runny nose and cough. We were up, just the two of us last night from 3:30 am to 4:30 am. We read another chapter in his Justice League chapter book he picked out from the library. We cuddled. I stroked his feverish head. And he talked so sweetly. Whenever Gideon is sick, he's extra sweet.
***
After dinner to night I took a shower. When I got out, I was met at the door by G, who was wielding JR's iTouch. Gideon told me that he cued up "Momma's Song" ("Alone" by Heart) so we could sing it together. So... there we were, me in my towel, G with his runny nose, singing our hearts out in harmony into our hairbrushes. Nice.

Tonight, to clear up space on my computer, I've been going through my old photos and deleting everything I don't think I'll use again. (over 2,000 photos and counting) But, while I was doing this, I ran across a photo from Naomi's birthday shoot that I never edited. I guess I was too busy focused on the Heartsmiles hat, but I wish I'd seen this earlier. Here's one of my new favorite photos of Naomi (and I took it back in February!).

Spring has Sprung!
I went out with my kiddos tonight to capture a shot that says "SPRING!" for a contest to win a spot in an incredible workshop that will only enhance my photography.
Gideon, since he didn't feel well, his nose was running, and he had a fever, held the bubble gun while Naomi modeled for me.
They both did their jobs without fussing!! (a rare thing for the 2 and 3 yr. old children of a photographer)
Here are a few of the shots I got. The light was lovely.

Great-Granpa Gene and Great-Granma Judy
The past few days, we have been chillin' with JR's maternal grandparents, the Ramakers.
Despite the fact that several of us were not 100% up to par, we had a great visit full of family meals, cuddles, book reading, a little shopping for nothing in particular, and a trip to Rendevous. (I can't believe we've lived in Memphis for this long, and our first trip there was last night!)
Gideon was attached to Great-Granma Judy's hip the ENTIRE time. And I think Naomi has a little (non-creepy) crush on Great-Granpa... but who doesn't? :)
It was so nice to see them!

Last Week
Last week was pretty eventful. For blogging purposes, we will start with last weekend.
My parents stopped by on their way through town and spent some time with us. Papa Dan and Gideon have a great time in the toy section of Target together. This time, Papa bought two "guns". Everyone had a great time playing with them.

(I LOVE this photo!)

Gideon had a blast chasing Gigi with his gun.

What a fun visit we had!
Monday night, we packed up the family and headed out to Collierville for JR to play softball with the men from Grace Crossing. The weather was GORGEOUS! And it was nice for JR to get to play sports with men again.

We got there early and ate dinner with the Cooper family. Jaci is between the kids in age. Mindy is making sure the "kid's table" has enough food to keep the kids at it.

Hey, Batter, Batter... SWING!

(the kids talking to JR in the dug-out)

(playing with the other kids behind the bleachers)

A "moment" with Coop...

JR went from number 11 to NUMBER 1! :) And I love the look on G's face.

Tuesday evening we were outside, chillin' with our neighbor's the Ransoms. Out of the blue, it turned into a hair-cutting session. Kaylee wanted her hair cut to look like "Dora the Explorer". Since the scissors were already out, Naomi got her first trim. She sat so still! Her hair looks so much healthier! And since N had her hair cut, G wanted in on the action. I had already cut his hair, but Julie cut it just a little shorter to appease him.

(Jonathan Ransom--20 months)

(nice bed-head, Nonnie)

Gideon "paid" in advance for his hair-cut with hugs.

(looking like JR)

Wednesday Julie and her son Jonathan took us to CMOM (Children's Museum of Memphis). This place is incredible!!! The kids had a blast. And I took pictures until my camera ran out of battery power. :)

Have you had enough pictures now?
If not, here are the links to each of the sets:
