Naomi's Belly-Button Day

So finally, today the belly-button stump fell off. It had been hanging by a literal thread for days. Now we can do a real bath!!!

And I will take this opportunity to brag on my new little girl...

Naomi has a pleasant (fitting since her name actually means "pleasant") disposition. She is laid back and calm. She allows her brother to pet her, push cars in her face, and bear-hug her.

She rarely cries. And if she does, it doesn't last long. However, it is one of the loudest cries I have ever heard. Apparently she heard that my nickname as a child was "Mouth of the South" and she wants to follow in my footsteps.

In addition to being loud like me, she unfortunately seems to have inherited my sinuses. She breathes like a little pug puppy. :) And when she sneezes, Gideon immediately says, "Bless you!"

My mom says that she looks EXACTLY like I did as a baby. (but Naomi has really long, lady-like fingers and long, skinny toes) I'm hoping that she gets her face from me and her metabolism, athletic ability, and height from JR.

Speaking of metabolism, this kid weighed 9 lbs. 7 oz. at her 2 week weight check. We were just seeing if she was back up to birth weight. She eats 5-6 oz. every 4-6 hours. Luckily that means we are just getting up once during the night. However, she does like to take advantage of the one-on-one time by staying up for 2 hours.

Like G, she is really strong. She can hold her head up for a while and look around. And when I place her on her side, she rolls to her tummy.

Naomi focuses in on Gideon whenever he is near, smiles when JR holds her, and gives my cheek "kisses" when I hold her over my shoulder.

And we love her too.

I happen to find pug puppy breathing quite charming, myself! With that shared bond, maybe Naomi and Tater will bond even more than Gideon and Tater!

I am so glad that she is doing so well with her feeding and growing and congratulations on having another strong-necked kiddo! Just be careful that they don't turn into "a stiff-necked people." ;)

I loved reading about the brother-sister moments. Your post takes me back in time...our kids are almost the same number of months apart. Mackenzie and Josiah are 21 months apart to the day. She loved having "her baby" to play with and love on, even when he was still just a newborn! Sounds alot like Gideon and Naomi. They are cuties.

Glad you can give her a "real" bath now! Happy bathing.
