I'm so sorry I don't have more than a mental picture to accompany this story.
On Sunday nights, JR and I are in a marriage class for young families at church. Since it is so couple-focused, there is provided childcare. Now, since Gideon will not sit in one of those reclining bouncy seats, I have been unable to leave him with the childcare for the entire time. The wonderful lady working with the youngest group has 3 or 4 toddlers and can't be expected to carry Gideon around the entire time.
But with the addition of the Bumbo comes new experiences for Gideon.
I took him to "class" at the beginning of the evening. The toddlers were finger-painting. So I sat the Bumbo on top of the table, put Gideon in it, and went to my class.
When I went back after more than an hour, what greeted my eyes upon opening the door was priceless. My little boy was sitting in his Bumbo on the floor, surrounded by toddlers and their parents. He was smiling his face off just watching what was going on around him.
Alexa kept buzzing around him making sure his pacifier was back in his mouth since it falls out when he smiles really big. (I think she thinks he's her baby.)
The report about his behavior was also gratifying to hear as a mother: He LOVED listening to the story. He LOVED watching the kids. He was wonderful the entire time.
Yeah! I'm so glad he had such a great experience.

I may have to look into this whole bumbo chair thing. You aren't the only one of my friends whose sanity has been saved with the addition of the bumbo chair to their family. My biggest stress now is getting her to take a pacifier and bottle since she's decided she'd rather do without either. Fun to think about Gideon knowing how close he is in age to our little Zoe. Glad you are figuring out all sorts of strategies to get some baby free time (and glad you're sharing them!). Molly Carris
Sounds like he is a charmer!

Those kinds of reports are so great! I'm starting to get the, "Well, he's all boy!" reports, a.k.a "He was climbing the walls--again!" We have a long way to go in the 2's. :)
