Monday Weigh-in

Well, we're at Debby's house for a bit while she recovers, so I don't have a scale. (ah, shucks, right?) :)

But I've added some MUFA elements to my diet since my tummy is my problem area. So far it seems to be working.

And taking walks is easier now that I can just put the kids in the stroller and go. In fact, on Friday, the kids and I walked to the grocery store and back. I cannot express how excited I am about moving into this neighborhood, a real house, and having a yard!!! Just a few more weeks!!!!!!!!!

I'm moving just as fast as I can!

Just kidding -- I'm really excited for you all and I appreciate you letting me join your family on the occassional store stroll. It's so fun not to just have shopping so close but to have a CHOICE now between Publix and WalMart. WE're living the dream, man!

(And if you want to come over and use my sclae, you're totally welcome too.)

Let’s hear it for fats! As I’ve mentioned before, I am very pro-fat with about 40% of my diet (c.85-90 grams) being composed of saturated, mono-unsaturated and poly-unsaturated fats. Fats got the shaft in the 80s and I’m always glad to see people recognize that they are an important part of a healthy diet. After all, there are essential amino-acids (protein) and essential fatty-acids but there’s nothing essential about carbs… not to knock carbohydrates at all, which are also a macro-nutrient and a key part of a healthy diet but adequate protein and fat intake is paramount.

that house thing... that's exciting!

Okay - just for the record, for "sclae" read "scale."

Also, I should have inserted a comma after the word "welcome." I was not ending the sentence in a preposition, I was dashing off to a meeting and wanted to get that posted before I had to leave. Besides, as you already know, I make no promises about my proofreading skills transferring onto the internet (blog comments or e-mails). I got through 35 -- that's right -- 35 student papers last night and I've been proofing the latest articles for my writing job this morning. In other words, I am completely excused (by my own reckoning) from any self-editing.

Glad to hear you are motivated about your weight loss, and that adding MUFA is working for you.

Being fully committed to your weight loss is really the key. It's a constant battle until the healthy lifestyle choices become ingrained habits.

The thing I have found about MUFA is to be careful to not increase your total calories amount now that you are adding MUFA to your diet.

One thing, I'd recommend is to be cognizant that your picking up 20 to 40 lbs children everyday is exercise. By thinking it is exercise, you trigger your brain to burn calories which in turn will help expedite your weight loss.

Healthy diet goes hand in hand with Healthy exercise.

Good Luck, and I highly recommend tracking your weight management with Simple Weight
