Gideon's Development

I know you've been waiting for me to finally post. Here it is... (I know you're not REALLY waiting)

Gideon has gotten the hang of crawling and it is his new favorite past-time. He is EVERYWHERE! One of his favorite things to do is follow me to the kitchen. He thinks he's helping.

Eating: He is getting used to a variety of baby foods. His favorite is still squash. But he enjoys any fruit mixed with apples. Sunday morning in church he finally mastered little finger foods. He'd been doing well with wagon-wheel shaped things. (Actually, like me, he just shoved the entire thing in his mouth at once.) But now, he can pick up the little pieces of fruity cereal and get them in his mouth. I'd say he has about a 90% accuracy on the first try. (And he's so proud of himself.)

Teeth: Not any yet... But his gums are swollen and I check every day expecting to see the new pearly whites.

Talking: Gideon jabbers all day long. He growls, da da das, hehs, and spits. Each sound is accompanied by lots of facial expressions. It really seems as if he's saying something. Every day he grows closer to saying "Daddy". But the word he uses most appropriatly, most often, is "hey". And, whenever I'm on the phone, he thinks the call is for him. He high-tails it over to me and insists on his part in the conversation.

Socializing: He continues to light up wherever we are. Gideon's smile brightens the day of whoever we meet. Dexter is probably his best friend right now. Those 2 boys have such a great time together. It's really adorable.

Umm... what else?
OH, we've started with the whole "separation anxiety" phase now. It doesn't really bother him too much during the day, but at night, when he realizes that we're not there... he wakes up. And then he wakes us up. So, we are going to be working on that. (This moring I woke up for the 3rd time at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep.) This situation of Gideon's also affects his nap schedule. So, right now, my smiley kid is not sleeping (EVER).

But who can be upset when a cute, smiling boy gives you a kiss just because he thinks you're funny? I love my little boy. And that's what he is now. A little boy... not a baby.

I think that baseball caps on little boys are so cute! They make them look so big though!

Thanks for the update. I actually have been checking and waiting for this since you said it was "coming soon." Gideon is adorable.
